FPA Archive – Natura e artificio respirano e vivono nel nuovo studio di Francesca Pasquali / Nature and artifice live and breathe in the new Francesca Pasquali’s studio
“Un sogno che si realizza. Per anni ho lavorato in un ambiente comodo e agevole ma buio, angusto, pressante. Girovagavo tra i materiali accumulati negli anni, in una gincana di percorsi obbligati tra sacchi, scatoloni, casse: ogni cosa era complicata. Una caccia al tesoro, per trovare strumenti, materiali, oggetti che avevo accantonato da qualche parte, ma chissà dove! La decisione di cambiare era nell’aria e nel 2016 eccolo, un vecchio fienile malmesso e pericolante immerso nel verde. Mi sono detta “questo luogo sarà perfetto”!

Così l’artista bolognese Francesca Pasquali racconta le origini della nascita dell’FPA ARCHIVE STUDIO, un luogo unico che da settembre 2017, dopo un anno di lavori, è operativo e soprattutto vivo.
Lo studio – il cui restauro è stato affidato a Ciclostile Architettura (http://ciclostilearchitettura.me/FPA) – esprime il carattere della ricerca artistica di Francesca Pasquali. Nasce quale atto di salvataggio e ristrutturazione di un vecchio fienile, architettura rurale di antica memoria, trasformata in uno studio funzionale e accogliente, attrezzato e personalissimo.
Situato alle porte di Bologna, la luce e la linfa della campagna entrano e il ciclo del giorno inonda i materiali plastici e industriali, milioni di cannucce colorate, morbide lastre di neoprene, voluttuose setole cangianti, che l’artista quotidianamente rigenera e intreccia, assembla e compone in forme di organica memoria. Le ampie finestre, i mattoni a vista, le moderne strutture, gli spazi vuoti da riempire con il fare e il disfare la materia, i libri, le sedute che si adattano al nostro stare.

“Due piani di vita e di lavoro. Il grande spazio al primo piano, un open space dove lavoro e dove finalmente riesco ad avere una visione generale di tutto il mondo di materiali che utilizzo e, soprattutto, di quelli che sono lì, semplicemente in attesa di trovare una loro dimensione per un nuovo progetto. Ad arricchire il tutto una vista mozzafiato che si staglia verso il verde assoluto della campagna bolognese. Il piano terra, luogo di accoglienza per gli ospiti in visita, è umanizzato da vissute pareti di mattoni che raccontano del tempo passato, da vecchi oggetti ricercati con costante passione che dialogano con le mie opere esposte. Tutto questo è senz’altro il luogo che mi piace “abitare”!”
Un fienile che diventa laboratorio, studio. Un luogo di lavoro che è rifugio accogliente. La natura e l’artificio che si incontrano, germinando nel verde, mentre le opere d’arte prendono forma nella loro tridimensionalità materica, mutevoli come le stagioni.

“My dream has been real! For years, I worked in a comfortable place but dark and small, with materials stored in the course of time, in a sort of labyrinth of bags and crates: everything has been difficult. My working days were a sort of treasure hand for finding tools, materials and objects that I have put in some place! The change was already in my mind, and in 2016 I found a barn in the green, in a bad way and to be restorer. I thought: this will be THE PERFECT PLACE!”
Thus the Bolognese artist Francesca Pasquali tells the born of the FPA ARCHIVE STUDIO, a special place that from September 2017, after one year’s working, is operative and lived.
The Francesca Pasquali studio – which renovation has been made by Ciclostile Architettura (http://ciclostilearchitettura.me/FPA) – expresses the character of her artistic research. The Studio born from “rescue action” and restoration of an old hayloft, a rural building of ancient memory, that has been transformed in a functional and comfortable artist’s studio, well equipped and characterised.
Near Bologna, in the studio the light and the energy of the countryside come inside and the cycle of the day “floods” the plastic and industrial materials that the artist everyday regenerates and interwines, assembles and composes in organic shapes. The wide windows, the visible bricks, the modern structures, the empty spaces to fill with the materials, the books, the seats that adapting their selves to our body and needs.

“Two levels of life and work. The great space on the first floor, an open space where I work and where I finally have a general view on materials I use and, above all, of those who are here, simply waiting to find their shape in a new project. To enrich the building, a breathtaking view that stands out to the total green of the Bolognese countryside. The ground floor, a welcoming place for guests visiting, is “humanized” with brick walls that tell of past time, with old and selected design objects with constant passion that dilaogue with my works here displayed. This is definitely the place I like to “live”! “
A hayloft that becomes laboratory. A working area that is a comfortable shelter. Nature and artifice meet, growing in the green landscape, while the artworks become shapes that change according to the seasons.
